Languages

At Childer Thornton, the study of Spanish is seen as an important part of our pupils’ education as we believe that languages are part of the cultural richness of our society and the world in which we live. Our high quality languages curriculum is delivered by a specialist Spanish teacher and pupils in years 3 - 6 receive one hour of Spanish every other week. We strive to provide pupils with a languages education that fosters curiosity and deepens their understanding of the world around them. During Spanish lessons, pupils learn to appreciate different countries, cultures, communities and people. We endeavour to foster mutual understanding, a sense of global citizenship and personal fulfilment and we believe that the ability to understand and communicate in another language is a lifelong skill for education, employment and leisure.
