'Friends of Childer Thornton'

Raising Funds for School

Our school association is a registered charity and continually works hard to try and raise funds for extra equipment and activities for the children which would otherwise not be provided for from the main school budget.

All parents/carers within the school are members of the School Association, which is run by a small committee.  In order for us to continue raising valuable funds the committee needs the continued support and help from volunteers throughout the year.

We arrange social events for the children and for families which encourage the social aspects of family life, the building of friendships and reinforce the family ethos within our school.  Any suggestions or views you may have regarding the school association are always welcome and you can always send a note or e-mail into the school office where it will be passed on to the school association members.

We hold our AGM in September of each year, when the members of the committee are voted in for the next 12 month period, and any new members are welcome to stand for/join the committee. Other committee meetings are held at different times of the year, the frequency depends on the events being organised, but no more usually than about 6 or 7 meetings a year lasting for about an hour.

Events the school association organise range from family quiz nights, children’s DVD/Pizza evenings, Christmas Market and our Summer Fete & BBQ.

Even if you aren’t able to commit to becoming a committee member of the School Association, volunteers are always welcome and appreciated when we are arranging events – please help out when you can – it’s a good way to get to know other parents too!

We would like to extend a big THANK YOU to the following companies and individuals who have supported our school:

  • Cavendish Manley, Little Sutton
  • DHL
  • Marks & Spencers
  • Councillor Myles Hogg
